Apple Plans to Shut Down Beats Music

Apple is going to shut down Beats music on November 30. The company will now be fully endorsing Apple Music

Apple has decided to shut down Beats Music on November 30. The announcement was made by a document published on Thursday. Following the closure, all Beats subscriptions will be cancelled, but Apple is encouraging users to migrate and join their user profiles to Apple Music, the music subscription service that was launched by the tech giant in June. All the services that were available on Beats music are available on Apple Music as well.

Advocating their own pros, the company mentioned that users will get better recommendations and services with Apple Music. There will still be the 24/7 music with Beats 1 global radio, along with exclusive interviews from world-famous artists.

As Apple decides to close the music streaming service just 18 months after acquiring it, Android and iOS users are being asked to update their apps and migrate to Apple Music. While the individual membership for the music streaming service will cost $9.99 per month, the family membership will cost $14.99 per month.

Apple purchased Beats Music for $3 billion back in May 2014. Though the company was expected to revive the service by incorporating some major changes, there were soon reports that Apple wanted to close down the service. In fact, a lot of engineers associated with Beats Music were being continuously reassigned to other Apple products. So, when the Apple Music was launched in June this year, the decline of Beats Music was inevitable.

Apple Music was actually launched by Beats co-founder Jimmy Iovine. Since then, the service has garnered over 6.5 million customers, and the numbers are only increasing, slowly and steadily.

Users who want to move from Beats music to Apple Music can contact Apple’s official Twitter handle for assistance. The launch of Apple Music was kind of revolutionary. To date, electronic giants have resisted adopting a music subscription model for its customers. Apple broke the norm and proved how much it values its customers. The brand definitely wants to provide services in all aspects of its customer’s lives.

Apple Music offers some great services to enhance the music listening experience. It will offer users with recommendations which are based on songs purchased from Apple’s iTunes store, ripped from CDs, or chosen on-demand from an online catalog. The service will also have a radio station and a feature called “Connect” where artists can directly connect to listeners and fans and share their songs.

With an already huge base of paid subscriptions, about 8.5 million more people have participated in the free trial of Apple Music. But as YouTube offers one of the richest music catalogs to its 1 billion customer base, and with its new YouTube Music app on the way, Apple needs to buckle up and get ready for the competition.

After declaring a three-month free trial, Apple also rolled out a test version of the app for its Android users. This decision marks a major deviation from its regular policies. And clearly, Apple is doing everything in its power to attain as many customers as it can.
