Katy Perry named highest earning woman in music, beats Taylor Swift

Katy Perry has been named the highest earning woman in music industry this year, by Forbes website

Katy Perry has officially scored a point over her arch nemesis Taylor Swift. According to the new report by Forbes, Perry has become the highest paying woman in the music industry this year. She has managed to pull a whopping $135 million in 2015.

Katy Perry has been working really hard this year

Katy’s huge Prismatic World tour has been the main reason behind the extreme profits she pulled this year. She has managed to cover 126 cities and her tour isn’t even over yet. In fact, according to Forbes, the “Roar” singer has managed to earn 2 million per city during her tour.

Her sponsorship deals with Coty, Claire’s and Covergirl have also played a huge role in her total earnings. Katy might not have had a new album out in the last 12 months, but that clearly didn’t slow her down.

Swift wasn’t even close to Perry on the list

Perry’s $135 million earning looked pretty big in front of the $80 million Taylor Swift earned this year. Taylor might have had one of her biggest albums out with her songs always topping charts, but she was clearly far from beating Katy.

With Swift’s amazingly successful 1989 world tour which kicked off late last year in Japan, and Taylor and her boyfriend Calvin Harris being declared as the most paid power couple, it really came as a shocker for many when Taylor Swift wasn’t declared as the highest paid woman in music.

But according to reports, Taylor is actually making $4 million per city in her tour, which is almost double of what Katy made. And Swift has only been focused on music this year, with absolutely no sponsorship deals by her side. Obviously, it was not because she didn’t have any offers but probably because she didn’t want them.

Taylor and Katy Perry have had ‘bad blood’ between them ever since Katy started dating Taylor’s ex John Mayer. And after their infamous cold fight over backup dancers hit the tabloids, there was absolutely no turning back. Katy also picked up a Twitter fight with Taylor’s boyfriend Calvin Harries, over the VMA nominations this year.

In fact, Taylor’s video “Bad Blood” is supposedly inspired by her feud with Katy since Selena Gomez was seen wearing a wig exactly like Katy’s in the video.

Many big names followed

After Perry and Swift, the third spot was filled by Fleetwood Mac who was just half a million higher than Lady Gaga, with $59.5 million.  Her ‘On With The Show’ tour had 86 concert dates with secondary ticket rates even higher than $300.

On fourth place was Lady Gaga with $59 million in her pocket. She played 66 shows during Forbes’s scoring period and had deals with Versace, MAC and her own ‘Fame’ fragrance.

Fifth spot was taken by our very own Beyoncé with $54 million. Her ‘On The Run’ tour has already grossed $100 million and had 19 North American dates this year. She also has sponsorship deals with Pepsi, L’Oréal and her own fragrance line.
