Kanye West: The Fashion World Intolerant about Straight People

“I feel like I got discriminated in fashion for not being gay.”—Kanye West

Kanye WestIn the past, Kanye West has said some pretty shocking things, but his revelation on the fashion industry discriminating against him has caught many people’s attention. Kanye West, the 21-time Grammy award winner who recently announced his bid to run for the President of the United States in 2016 at the MTV music awards, has always made headlines whenever he has opened his mouth. This time around, it was no different, as he sat down with the interviewer of SHOWstudio.

Kanye West gave a live two hour interview to SHOWstudio where he talked about how in the beginning, the fashion industry Kanye Westdiscriminated against him because he was straight. This is not the first time West has astonished people with remarks and antics and with this recent interview, he doesn’t disappoint.

The 38-year-old beau of reality TV star Kim Kardashian didn’t feel welcome when he entered fashion industry. His liking for women was the main reason for him falling short of having a successful career in the fashion industry. In the music industry, he said it was the complete opposite, as gay artists really have to struggle to overcome barriers.

About Frank Ocean, a musician who came out in 2012, West said, “[…] there are people who broke the ground and he broke the ground. The people that break the stereotypes make history.”

Going back to his aspirations for becoming a fashion designer, he felt like a laughing stock for people who made fun of his foray into the fashion world. West who has partnered with Adidas to design his Yeezy Season clothing line explained, “[…] me sitting here trying my absolute hardest and everyone is laughing at me.”

In the same interview, West stated that he was extremely proud of his step father-in-law Caitlyn Jenner for making such an amazing transition from a man to a woman. However, he also admits to the fear of black radio shows making fun of him, as black culture is normally homophobic. In the end, he didn’t care what people said. He was proud of his family saying, “I feel proud to be in a family that has so many people breaking ground for generations to come.”

For his wife Kim Kardashian, he only had praises for all of her personal and family’s achievements, especially her reality show. “[KUWTK] is [a] new of an art form that my wife and my family should’ve [won plenty of Emmy for now].”

Sorry to have to tell you this Kanye, but most people will disagree on your remarks about your wife’s show getting nominated for an Emmy. Perhaps, when he becomes president in 2016, he can use his executive presidential power to make the award show nominate and declare his wife’s show a winner.
