Diane Keaton Introduces “The Keaton”

Diane Keaton, 69, sat down with PEOPLE magazine to talk about her new wine called “The Keaton.” She specifically tells people that drinking her wine over ice is necessary. Why, you might ask?—Because that is how the Annie Hall icon likes her wine.

The idea of drinking wine with ice came to her on a hot summer day in New York in the 1970s. She didn’t have A.C. in her apartment so she went out onto her balcony to cool off and decided to put ice into her wine. She loved it so much that she began to urge everyone to try it her way. In the Ellen DeGeneres show, she is seen drinking wine on ice and laughing her way throughout the interview. The host told her that the bartenders have even begun to call the drink “The Keaton.”

Diane KeatonKeaton said, “Ellen heard I drink my wine on ice and surprised me with a nice glass!” When she played beer pong on Jimmy Fallon’s show, the host filled her cups with wine on ice. She is thinking about surprising Ellen with a case of her wine, but if Ellen has read this interview, the surprise is somewhat ruined.

Diane Keaton, the movie screen legend, doesn’t need a dose of wine to take the edge off her before she sits down for a TV interview. She said with a laugh, “Now that’s just silly. NO! But it is true I only drink my wine over ice.”

Red wine is Keaton’s preferred choice of drink, but she has not forgotten about fans of white wine. She has collaborated with Winemaker Bon Pepi and Bruce Hunter to create both red and white wine, which is for people who don’t like to drink chilled wine.

My wines both red and white are everyday wines,” she explains. Her wines taste great with or without ice. When people purchase her wine, a matching donation of their purchase will go to the Lou Ruvo Center to use in the research of brain cancer. With both of her parents affected by brain disease, this cause is close to her heart. People who want to support the cause should purchase Keaton’s wine.

Her instructions for drinking her wine are: “Grab a low ball glass, fill with lots of ice, pour until all the ice is covered with the robust red wine, then enjoy.”

You can see Diane Keaton next in the movie Love the Coopers and in the animated movie Finding Dory, as the voice over artist for Jenny, Dory’s mother. For now, Diane Keaton’s fans can watch their favorite actress on the small screen as she promotes her wine or watch her in classic movies starring in them while sipping her affordable wine. You can purchase a bottle of her wine from online or from stores across the United States.
