1.     Hates Eggs with Passion

If you watch his TV shows, you know he is one guy that can stomach almost everything, from liver to a pig ear sandwich. So, it might be surprising for you to learn that the one thing he can’t stomach is eggs. As long as Guy can’t see the egg, he will eat it. If you put scrambled or fried egg on top of a burger or on the side, he will push it aside, saying “No, Thank You.”

2.     Went to France at 16

Most people envy Fieri for moving to Chantilly, France at the young age of 16, but for young Guy, it was a terrible experience. He lived in France for a year and was miserable most days. He couldn’t talk on his phone because it was locked away and he had to ask for permission first before using it. He lived in a tiny room and had to walk down two flights of stairs to use the bathroom.

3.     Possessed an Entrepreneur Mindset since Grade School

In the fifth grade, Guy talked to the Humboldt Country Fair to let Fierihim sell balloons. Over the next few years, he ran a pretzel cart, which earned enough money to visit France for a year.

Fieri came to love food when he sat down for a meal in a small restaurant in the South of France. He ordered steak frites, which ignited his passion for food.

5.     Guy Almost Got Fired for Taking a Risk

After he graduated from UNLV, he applied for a job at Louise’s Trattoria, an Italian chain in California. The customers of the Italian chain wanted variety in the menu so Guy took it upon himself to make that happen. He added, without asking the manager for permission, tortilla soup. He got into some big trouble with his boss and almost lost his job.

One day, Guy was watching Good Morning America when the legendary Emeril Lagasse came on, talking to the audience, and engaging them as he cooked up a delicious meal. That’s when Guy found his inspiration.
